all in one package

I've been wanting to write a diary for weeks now, but I've been too damn busy.  Being a stay-at-home mom is far more work than I ever imagined it would be.  I am totally wasted by the time clock gets home from work at night.

xmas - it was simple and good.  My mother wanted us to go to church with them, but we had to say no.  There was no way the dude was going to make it through church - way too boring for him.  What's the point of my going to church if I'm just going to be walking him out in the hallway?  Plus....clock and I aren't exactly church people.  I usually go with my parents at xmas just because it's easier than arguing about it.  Mom finally broke the xmas eve tradition of asian food by dragging us to the Texas Roadhouse.  My steak was OK, but I was unhappy about being there (TRADITION!!!).  xmas day, we went to my Aunt's, where the dude had a meltdown - just after he woke up from his nap my mom and her twin rushed him at the same time.  He hadn't ever seen them together before.  Poor little guy!  It took him almost an hour to calm down from that.  Otherwise, the food was good, the company was fun, and the dude made out like a bandit with all his gifts.

My birthday (the 27th) was pretty mellow.  My mother insisted we go shopping for an outfit for me that day, so I went.  She's so proud of me for dropping all the pregnancy weight, she decided to get me a whole new outfit (including accessories and shoes) for my birthday.  We ended up getting an outfit with some additional pieces so I can mix-and-match.  Clock got me a super-cool new backpack that I can't wait to load up and try out.  The dude got me a great pair of everyday earrings from my favorite jewelry store.  My boys are the best.  Clock cooked me an excellent steak dinner and my parents came over later for cupcakes.

Saturday was the first hike with the dude.  Instead of carrying him in the Ergo, we decided to test out the stroller.  It went really well - the dude was awake and didn't complain, and the stroller rolled through the woods like a champ.  While the stroller is great for shorter trips (read: day hikes in the Houston area), I wouldn't want to use it for longer trips or if there's any actual terrain.  Porschea was also very happy to be out in the woods again.

We slacked the rest of the weekend, and you can read clock's diary about how much fun we had on New Year's eve.

So, it's 2008.  Wow.  I remember Thanksgiving 2006, and now it's 2008.  Huh.

Yesterday clock and I reviewed where we are, and where we want to be in life.  We've done a great job over the last year of "greening" up our lifestyle.  We've also really done great things with the grocery bill (cut it in half!!) and totally changed how we eat.  We hope to continue down this path in 2008.....damn, the dude is awake now.  I need to run.  Hopefully I can finish this entry at another time!!!
